This is my project
I observe:
Psychology and Philosophy are different from the sciences. Although both have a history, science builds understanding how things work. For instance where Physics uses F=MA and electricity uses E=IR, to build understanding, Philosophy and Psychology starts right out with history books. Go read what the philosophers wrote about their thoughts. Now, if that won’t make philosophy hard and tortured to learn I don’t know what will.
Why not sweep the table clear of history books and lets find the most incisive, brief, and deep understandings of the workings of philosophy we can find. After all, as the recent Edward O Wilson wrote in his book Consilience that even thoughts have a representation in the physics of chemistry in our brains. We should find a “Unity of Knowledge”. With the rate of progress in the chemistry of genomics and the neural networks of our brains serving as a model for Artificial Intelligence, this idea can be seen as a path we are on now and only to progress.
I find the book Immune by Philipp Dettmer shows the pattern of behavior from the chemistry of proteins to the behavior of cells that describes the complexity of life itself: simultaneously building life on one side while attacking it with pathogens on the other side. Progress is the delicate dance between the two while our world tests the results.
